This crown ether is a macrocyclic complexing agent for cations1 ,a selective extractant for nuclear fuel reprocessing2 and other heavy metal aqueous solution purifications3,4. It is also used as an active material in PVC matrix membranes for the fabrication of cadmium selective potentiometric sensors5 and as a new ion-selective electrode for La(III) ions6. Employed in solvent extraction of amino acids into a room temperature ionic liquid.7
