A useful 1,3-dipolar cycloadditon reagent.1,2 Used in the synthesis of furoquinolines bearing an external methylene-bond,3 synthesis of 3-bromoisoxazolyl-4-boronates,4 preparation of are 3-bromo-5,5-dimethyl-4,5-dihydroisoxazole,5 preparation of isoxazolylamino acids and peptides as transglutaminose inhibitors,6 and synthesis of 2-oxocarbapenam-3-carbonitrile.7 Also employed as a precursor to unstable nitrile oxides.8
