A commonly available form of the hexafluorophosphate anion. It is used as an ingredient in the formation of highly conductive non aqueous polymer gel electrolytes.1 Also used as a flame retardant for cellulose.2 Recently it is employed in research studies of  cation-induced isolation of unusual conformers of a hexapodal receptor.3
