A compound containing two different electrophilic functions of high reactivity. Both the chlorocarbonyl and the chlorosulfenyl group are available for nucleophilic substitutions, e.g., with amines, thiols, and alcohols.1 Used for synthesis of a class of sulfur and nitrogen containing heterocycles,2 regiocontrolling carbonylsulfanylations at ortho-position of phenols and at α-position of ketones,3 synthesis of 3-thienyl-substituted isothiazolines-2 and 1,2,4-thiadiazoles,4 synthesis of carbamoyl-containing N,S-heterocyclic compounds,5 and the preparation of two oxathiazolone derivatives by the reaction with 1,3-adamantanedicarbonamide.6
