A alkylating reagent widely used in the N-alkylation of amides.1 Applied in alkylation of the trianion of bis(methylsulfonyl)imide to prepare bis(β-trimethylsilylethanesulfonyl)imide,2 alkylation of sultones followed by treatment of the resultant silyl compound with tetrabutylammonium fluoride to give sulfur-free methylenecyclohexenes,3 alkylation of 2,1-benzothiazines followed by treatment with fluoride and hydrolysis leads to o-allyl anilines,4 and alkylation of the monolithium derivative of 2-(chloromethyl)-3-tosylpropene to afford β-silyl sulfone.5 Starting material for the preparation of 2-(trimethylsilyl)ethyl- triphenylphosphonium iodide used for the synthesis of allyl silanes,6,7 synthesis of functionalized benzylsilanes from arylzinc compounds by means of a novel Rh catalysis,8 synthesis of N-prenylpyrroloindoline and N-prenylindole alkaloids based on a new four-reaction anionic Domino process,9 and preparation of tris(trimethylsilylmethyl)bis- (tetrahydrofuran-O)ytterbium(III).10
