An effective halogenating and oxidizing agent for organic synthesis especially for pharmaceuticals and hormones. Readily utilized as an alternative electrophilic bromine source with ease of addition and handling and minimizing the risk of forming brominated side products.1 Applied in the bromination of aromatic compounds such as phenols, aromatic amines, aromatic ethers, acetanilides, arenes, and thiophene, α-bromination of arenes and acetophenones, and also bromo-addition to alkenes.2 Also used in The oxidation of some thioacids 3, substituted benzylamines 4 , methionine 5 and diols 6.
