A reagent with alkyne protecting group. Used for synthesis of polysubstituted-2-naphthols by an aluminum chloride catalyzed condensation of phenyl acetyl chloride derivatives and triisopropylsilyl acetylene,1 successful asymmetric transfer of rhodium–alkynyl species to symmetrical strained alkenes,2 rhodium-catalyzed asymmetric conjugate alkynylation of α, β-unsaturated ketones giving β-alkynylketones.3
