A chemotherapy drug mainly used in the treatment of chronic lymphocytic leukemia. Also used to treat non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and Hodgkin's disease. A nitrogen mustard alkylating agent.1 Recent research is focused on improving the antitumor activity and the stability, and reducing the toxicity. For example, synthesis of a series of perfluorinated chlorambucil derivatives and their hydrocarbon equivalents by coupling with an ester link with either a fluorinated alcohol or its hydrocarbon equivalents using DCC and DMAP;2 synthesis of a series of D- and L-tyrosine- chlorambucil analogs as anticancer drugs for chemotherapy of breast cancer;3 modification of the alkylating agent chlorambucil with spiropiperazinium salts;4 the preparation of chlorambucil- loaded poly(butylcyanoacrylate) nanoparticles.5
