N,N'-Diisopropylethylamine is also called Hünig's base or DIPEA. A good base but a poor nucleophile. Use as a selective reagent in the acylation and  alkylation of secondary amines to tertiary amines by alkyl halides.1 A peptide synthesis reagent.2,3 Also used in synthesis of sscorpionine (a complex heterocyclic compound) by a reaction with disulfur dichloride catalyzed by DABCO in a remarkable one-pot synthesis.4
