Abbreviated as BTMSA. Serves as a ligand in organometallic chemistry. Formation of titanocene and zirconocene complexes as novel reagents for group IV metallocene fragments.1 Reaction of nickelocene with methyllithium and phenyllithium in the presence of BTMSA gave binuclear and tetranuclear alkyne-bridged complexes.2 Used as a surrogate for acetylene, a nucleophile in Friedel-Crafts type acylations and alkylations, and as a precursor to lithium trimethylsilylacetylide.3,4,5 A useful reagent in cycloaddition reactions. Illustrating its versatility, BTMSA was used in a concise total synthesis of (±)-estrone.6 An additive for Electrolyte in lithium secondary battery and lithium secondary battery to reduce thickness expansion at high temp and provide longer life.7
