A reagent for organic synthesis. Applied in synthesis of vinyl sulfones as caspase-3 inhibitors,1 synthesis of vinylphosphonates bearing α-sulfenyl and α-sulfinyl moieties,2 generation of phosphonate carbanions for nucleophilic addition to trans-PhHC:CH(NO2)Me followed by reaction with chlorotrimethylsilane to give 4,5-dihydroisoxazole derivatives,3 reaction with N-buta-1,3-dienylsuccinimide to give [4+2] ortho-cycloadducts,4 and synthesis of vinyl sulfones from arylmethylketones under sonochemical conditions.5
