A fluoronating agent and a sulfonylating reagent. Commonly used with DBU (1,8-diazabicyclo[5.4.0]undec-7-ene) for the conversion of vicinal diols into epoxide,1 conversion of primary or secondary alcohols into their corresponding fluorides such as conversion of steroidal alcohols such as cholestan-3P-01 to the epimeric fluoride,2 the formation of anhydronucleosides from 5'-O-trityl –thymidine,3 the preparation of a variety of unsaturated 3-fluorosteroids of defined stereochemistry,4 synthesis of  the corresponding perfluorobutane-1-sulfonamides5 and synthesis of novel vinylphosphonates bearing the nonaflate group.6
