Used as an intermediate and a building block in organic synthesis. Used in the synthesis of 2,2-difluorovinyl carbonyl compounds,1 gem-Difluoroolefins,2 functionalized gem-difluoro-penta-1,4-dienes,3 2,2-difluorovinyl- and 2-fluorovinylphosphorus compounds,4 and 3-fluorinated isochromenes and isothiochromenes.5 The material is also employed in the synthesis of fluorinated laser dyes.6
