A reagent for organic synthesis. Applied in synthesis of 1-aroyl-3-(4-aminosulfonylphenyl)- thioureas by reaction with sulfanilamide (i.e., 4-aminobenzenesulfonamide),1 preparation of 2,5-disubstituted 1,3,4-thiadiazoles as potential anticonvulsant agent,2 synthesis of 1-(2/4-substituted-benzoyl)-3-benzothiazol-2-yl-thioureas as potential analgesic agents,3 reaction with ethyl bromopyruvate in the presence of enaminones to afford 2-(4-acetyl-5-benzoylamino -3-methyl-2-thienyl)-2-oxoacetates,4 synthesis of antitubercular thioureas and thiosemicarbazides as lead compounds for antitubercular drug design and discovery by the reactions with aromatic amines and acid hydrazides respectively,5 and synthesis of N-morpholine or N,N-di-ethyl, N'-substituted benzoylthioureas by condensation of morpholine or diethylamine.6
