A cyclic diketone used to determine whether a compound contains an aldehyde group.1,2 Generally used as catalysts in the formation of transition-metal complexes.3 Other uses include applications in colorimetry, crystallography, luminescence and spectrophotometric analysis.4,5 also used for synthesis of synthetic pigment benzylthiocrellidone6 and synthetic building block for the fragrance and pharmaceutical industry7,8 .
