Versatile ligand for the formation of metal complexes.1 Used in the synthesis of chiral tropocoronands which have potential utility in asymmetric catalysis,2 as a novel organocatalyst for asymmetric vinylogous Michael addition reactions of γ-butenolides to chalcones,3,4 synthesis of tetradentate chiral Schiff base ligand (1Z,1'Z,3E,3'E)-1,1'-diphenyl-3,3'-[(1S,2S)-cyclohexane-1,2-diyldinitrilo]dibut-1-en-1-ol,5 preparation of an HPLC chiral stationary phase (CSP) which has only two ureide functional groups,6 and synthesis of three-dimensional and chiral one-dimensional CuIICrIII coordination polymers exhibiting ferromagnetism.7
