A Coupling agent for the synthesis of peptides in solid phase as well as solution. HONB mediated amide coupling reactions in two-phase solvent mixtures afford peptides in high yields with little racemization. 1  HONB  can promote imidazolide couplings2  and can be used for enhancement of peptide coupling mediated by EDC [N-ethyl-N'-(3-dimethylaminopropyl)carbodiimide-HCl] in aqueous media 3.
