Also known as DABCO. Widely used in organic synthesis reactions and serves as a weak base and ligand.1  A catalyst for polyurethane, Baylis-Hillman reaction, and for a metal-free Sonogashira coupling, with or without microwave enhancement.2,3 Used to demethylate quaternary ammonium salts by heating in DMF.4 Useful in dye lasers and in mounting samples for fluorescence microscopy (when used with glycerol and PBS).5
