Sodium chlorodifluoroacetate is an environmentally benign difluorocarbene precursor used for: Synthesis of 1,3-difluoroaromatics,1 Esterification of chlorodifluoroacetic acid with polyfluoro and hydrocarbon alcohols,2 Synthesis of chlorohydrins from glycidyl ethers by difluorocarbene-induced facile regioselective ring opening,3 Wittig reaction of 3- and 8-formyl deuteroporphyrin dimethyl esters (1 or 2) with triphenylphosphonium difluoromethylide,4 and Synthesis of Geminal difluorinated cyclopropanes.5
Recently applied to functionalization of ethylene-propylene-diene rubber (EPDM).6
